The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) works in Florida, and is intended to provide financial assistance and support to low-income families. In The Sunshine State, the program operates under the name Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA). As is known, in this as in other federal programs, benefits have to be recertified from time to time. TCA benefits are typically limited to a maximum of 48 months for any adult recipient. However, this limit may be extended for individuals with disabilities or other exceptional circumstances.
Other Things to Consider on TANF/TCA
In addition to financial assistance, TCA recipients may receive supportive services such as childcare assistance, transportation aid, and access to employment and training programs.
