Most of the Costco members know that the mega store offers great discounts and very good quality items, especially those of its flagship brand, Kirkland Signature. From soups to toilet paper, through products as dissimilar as tequila, coffee, or even clothes, Kirkland is always present in my house.
But this brand, despite its variety, has a product that cannot be missing in American homes, whether you have children or not. Do you love baking cookies? Craving for a warm, soft, spongy cake? Or are you looking for a guilty snack at midnight? This is your product. The product we have been talking about is not a mystery at all and, if you already know it and have it, you will know that I am right: we are talking about the Kirkland Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips, in the 4.5 lb (2.04 kg) pack, which is as basic but versatile as few products are.
The Costco chocolate chips you won’t regret to always have
These amazing chocolate chips are made with just a few simple ingredients (chocolate liqueur, vanilla, sugar, and soy lecithin) and once you bite one, your taste buds will enter a world of pleasant chocolate, not too bitter to be strong, not too sweet to be uneatable. Because, yes, you might know there are other brands of chocolate chips that are loaded with sugar that ruin any recipe.
I have used them to make chocochips cookies and pain au chocolat, or added in vanilla cakes. I have also thrown them inside a cup of hot cocoa (it’s a little lustful, but try it… your life will change).
Now, it has a problem: that if you have them in the refrigerator, and you come across them while craving for a sweet treat, you are going to be tempted to reach in and take a handful to continue bing-watching Grey’s Anatomy. That’s up to you, I’m not responsible. A 14 gram serving (1 Tsp) has 60 calories and adds 15% of the sugar required for your diet.
The price at my nearby Costco is $14.99, but you’ll already know that prices can vary from store to store, and availability is also dependant on your store’s location.
