The refrigerator is a very important place in any home, since it is the space where the food that we will later consume is stored. Thus, it must be a place where order and cleanliness reign. Having a cleaning routine is the key to keeping the inside, as well as the outside, safe from germs and bacteria .

1. First it is time to organize

The first step before getting down to cleaning is to organize where everything is going to go when we are in the middle of removing germs and bacteria. It is obvious that food cannot stay inside, but many of them need the cold.

2. Dismantle shelves, trays and drawers.

The second step is to disassemble everything that can be removed in the refrigerator. In this way, you can clean the interior more easily and also each of the individual parts separately. Above all, do not forget to clean the shelves, trays, drawers, egg cup… when you have removed it. Vinegar is an ideal product for cleaning all parts as it has disinfectant and degreasing properties.

3. Now it’s time for the interior

Baking soda has been crowned the best product for cleaning the inside of the refrigerator. It has degreasing and antibacterial properties that are highly valued. In addition, its neutral odor makes it a truly deep-cleaning and long-lastingproduct.

How to use it? Pour 3 tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl and add warm water to cover. Once the mixture is dissolved, soak a sponge and clean. Let it act for at least 5 minutes once you have passed through all the nooks and crannies, and then dry it with a clean dry cloth.

Another option is lemon: a very useful antibacterial food. Squeeze 3-4 lemons and mix with warm water and you’re done. Once used, leave it on for 5 minutes before rubbing with a clean cloth.

4. Don’t forget the rubber bands

Rubbers are a corner in which most fungi tend to accumulate. Thus, it is important to clean them thoroughly. Vinegar is one of the best options to achieve an impeccable cleaning. Mix it with water and dip a cloth in it. Drain and you can start cleaning. In case you can’t reach a corner, use an old toothbrush. It works!

5. Also the exterior

The exterior of the refrigerator should also be cleaned. If you have a design in light tones, especially white, you can use the same product you used to clean the interior. But if you have a refrigerator with stainless steel doors, then they need special attention and care. Olive oil mixed with squeezed lemon is a great solution. Adegreasing combo that will not harm steel.

Mix 4 tablespoons of olive oil with 3 tablespoons of lemon juice. Pour it on a cloth and start cleaning in the direction of the steel grain to avoid scratches. Let it act for 10 minutes and dry the entire surface with a soft cloth. And that’s it!
