The commitment to renewable energies has been one of the most important in recent years, mainly to reduce global warming, which is becoming more evident every year. But, with the energy crisis, we are experiencing, eco-friendly systems have become even more important. They are becoming one of the most popular options among users, along with wood or kerosene stoves.

In this sense, one of the energy sources that is gaining more importance is aerothermal energy, but what does aerothermal point consist of? How does this type of system work? Today we tell you all the keys so you can get to know it in depth.

Aerothermics: what is it?

Before getting to know in depth the operation of this type of system, the first thing we must know is what aerothermal energy consists of and why it has become one of the most interesting options when looking for a system that will allow us to economic savings.

how aerothermics works

The aerothermal or aerothermal pumps are based on a technology that extracts energy from the outside air to convert it into a heat source for our home. Thus, thanks to the pumps that operate in their operation, it is possible to extract up to 75% of the energy from the air and reduce the consumption that the equipment needs to operate to only 25%. Something that means an electricity saving that greatly improves other types of traditional heating systems.

In addition, this type of system has a much simpler installation and start-up process than other renewable energies, such as solar panels. For this reason, it is already being implemented in many newly constructed homes to comply with existing regulations.

How does aerothermal energy work?

We already know the basic operation, but as you can imagine, the process is much more complex than what we have mentioned above, and we will detail it to understand it better. Take note:

  • Aerothermal heat pump technology captures the renewable energy found in the air in its natural state. This energy is produced because the atmosphere itself captures the energy emitted by the sun and causes its temperature to rise.
  • This energy captured by the outdoor unit of the aerothermal system is sent to our home through an indoor unit so that we can use it for whatever we need.
  • During the summer, the opposite process takes place so that the pump operates by removing heat from our home to produce conditioned air.

So, as you have just seen, aerothermal energy provides heating during the winter and cooling in the summer and hot water throughout the year. All this uses a totally clean and environmentally friendly energy source.

What does aerothermal energy produce the energy savings?

Now that we know how they work, you are probably asking yourself one of the most common questions when we talk about this type of system: what savings will I achieve by opting for such a system? This is something that will depend on different factors such as the system we are currently using, the price of electricity we are paying, etc. But, in any case, we must understand that their energy efficiency is much higher.

To understand this, we must take into account a very clear concept, and that is that most heat generators have a direct relationship between energy delivered and energy consumedThis is the one that lets us know what the energy efficiency of a heat supply device is.

In this sense, if we are talking about traditional systems, the range is usually between 0.9 and 0.98, while in the case of aerothermal systems, we are talking about this ratio being between 0.9 and 0.98, while in the case of aerothermal systems, we are talking about this ratio being between 0.9 and 0.98. can be up to 4. Thus, we can state that the level of fuel needed in traditional devices to achieve the same level of comfort is much higher than in the case of this renewable energy.

How much does it cost to install an aerothermal system?

Finally, it remains to address one of the issues that are probably most important to you: the cost that an aerothermal installation may involve. The truth is that we are talking about an investment that can be quite important, since the most economical range of this type of system is around 1,800 or 2,000 euros, without taking into account that, in many cases, labour is not included.

That is, if we are thinking of installing a good quality aerothermal system, we can be talking about a final cost of at least 3,000 or 3,500 euros. An amount can double or even triple the price of a more traditional heating system such as oil-fired boilers.

However, we must be aware that this is an investment that we will be able to recover in an average period thanks to the savings it will provide us with. We hope this article has helped you to learn a little more about this system and why it is an excellent option for your home.
