Peeling some fruits without a knife may seem like one of the most difficult things to do. However, everything has a solution, and in most cases, it is simpler. The peach is one of the most popular foods, especially in July and August when it is fresher, with intense flavor and ripe. To eat it peeled, you don’t need a knife but a very useful and easy-to-do trick.
The peach skin is velvety, and the flesh is very juicy. Some people don’t approve of their skin, so they use a knife to remove it, but when you don’t have one handy, the best thing to do is to apply a foolproof tip to enjoy its flavor. The knife is not always the primary tool for removing peach skin.
Use this trick to peel peaches and put the knife aside.
Many people prefer to eat peeled fruits as they are not comfortable tasting the texture of the skin. Their aroma and flavor catch anyone’s attention when it comes to peaches. It can be eaten straight up, or you can use it for delicious desserts, drinks, and smoothies. But if you are one of those who insist on getting rid of the skin, you should know the trick with which you can help yourself quickly and simply.
It is an effective and uncomplicated solution. You should only subject peaches to sudden changes in temperature. You only need three simple steps:
- Put the peaches in a pot of boiling water for about 30 seconds.
- Then transfer them to another container with very cold water, with ice if possible.
- The skin will automatically peel off the meat. Just drag the skin with the help of your thumbs.
Another trick to peel peaches without relying on a knife is to remove the skin with a spoon. Place the concave side down and slide securely all around the rounded peach. Although it is a simple solution, the temperature change trick is more effective since several peaches can be peeled simultaneously.
Why peaches are so popular
The peach is food that delights for its sweet taste with a touch of acid; it is refreshing and healthy. This velvety fruit originates in China, known as the fruit of immortality, based on a millenary Chinese legend. They are highly appreciated for their aroma and multiple properties.
Peaches are produced in different varieties. There are soft pulp and hard pulp. These include Tirrenia, Queen Crest, Catherine (Amarillo de Murcia), Elegant Lady, Merryl, Bay-Gold, Royal Glory, and Calanda (Teruel). It is one of my favorite fruits because it can be prepared in different recipes. They can be eaten in syrup, fruit salads, and any dessert you can think of, such as jams and sorbets.
Of course, peaches are also popular because they have nutritional properties that cannot be wasted at any time. They are rich in minerals, providing the body with phosphorus, potassium, calcium, iron, and magnesium. To this, we add fiber, flavonoids, and vitamins A, B1, B2, and C.
